Chuck Fox's Akha Village Ministries

There are several areas that I'm involved with in serving the Akha tribal people in partnership with Akha Churches of Thailand (ACT).

Teaching and preaching in Akha villages -- Working with an Akha drama team is great fun and one that the Akha tribal people understand because their culture is based an oral communication. For the last few years, I've worked a lot with Akha opium addicts, but this activity has changed recently and will slow down in 2007.

Northern Thailand agricultural development -- I'm partnering with one of our American Baptist Missionaries in northern Thailand, Mike Mann, in doing coffee planting in villages that are higher in altitude than most. The goal of this project is that by helping in this way, we might show God's love to help those with very little income. Then we often have an open door to speak about Jesus.

Akha village leadership training -- I'm working with Akha leaders of the ACT to reach out to Akha villages that are weak in leadership development is one of my primary on-going activities.

Ruth Fox's Chiang Rai Ministries

Scholarships for Needy Chiang Rai and Northern Thailand Students through ABC-IM "STEP Walker" Pledges

There are many children in Chiang Raid and other areas of northern Thailand for whom education is not a "given". With the help of sponsors who pledge money to the American Baptist Churches - International Ministries "Student Tuition Expense Program" (STEP) program, children here in northern Thailand have the opportunity to study in grades K-12. .STEP funds are used exclusively towards their educational expenses and give them hope for a brighter future.

About Chuck and Ruth Fox

We are missionaries associated with the American Baptist Churches. We came to Thailand n 1999 to work with the Akha Hilltribe people in northern Thailand. What a journey of faith! We feel called by God. Leaving our home in Cincinnati, Ohio and coming to Thailand and learning Thai in Bangkok is, first of all, a challenge to say the least. Our whole family had to change. A new school, apartment, food, weather, culture and people we had to adjust to in many ways. We had to grow and change. Through this experience God was and is still working within us to make us new. We made the jump to light-speed by moving to northern Thailand to the city of Chiang Rai. It is her we have begun another part of our journey to serve the Lord.
